Born in 2001 in the Motor Valley, to be precise in Cerasolo Ausa in the province of Rimini, Vyrus is an exclusive artisan motorcycle manufacturer able to create art and "pure technological madness". In those years, founder Ascanio Rodrigo, a former Bimota technician, develops his "thesis" project from which the first Vyrus model derives.
In this way the Vyrus 984 C3 2V was presented at the Bike Show in Padua in 2002, entirely built by hand and assembled in just over six weeks. Among the features of this bike, we find an omega shaped chassis connected directly to the front swingarm, a 991 cm³ desmodromic-controlled Ducati engine, the use of precious materials and the equipment with Pirelli Diablo Corsa supersports tyres.
A succession of new models presented over the decades confirms the company's philosophy based on continuous technological and aesthetic innovation, infusing art into every mechanical part of the vehicle to ignite the passion of every motorcyclist. Therefore, we arrive in the year 2020 with Alyen, born from a sketch by Adrian Morton, handcrafted in a limited edition of 20 units.
Alyen 988 is a concentration of experience acquired in 35 years of activity and a heritage lived right in the middle of the Motor Valley. Alyen represents a demanding engineering and technological challenge especially for the unconventional arrangement of the elements: a play of three-dimensional structures suspended in the air that represent a creature of the future rather than a motorcycle.
The multiple complexities of the project required nine years of development and 57 different versions produced by the skilled hands of the Japanese designer Yutaka Igarashi together with the Design Team Vyrus led by Ascanio Rodorigo.
Of great impact is the alien's head, which extends as if suspended from the central part of the motorcycle and where unusual empty spaces can be seen between the handlebar and the front wheel. The steering system is in fact separate from the shock-absorbing one and the front swingarm is an integral part of the double omega magnesium chassis. The Hydraulic Wired Steering System is an internal development of the company and is able to work in remote control: a completely new aspect in a motorcycle in terms of design and technology.
Alyen is equipped with the Ducati Superquadro 1299 twin-cylinder engine, specially built by the Borgo Panigale manufacturer for this project in twenty units, capable of delivering up to 205 horsepower at 10,500 rpm. Euro 5 approved, the Ducati engine is combined with the latest generation electronics thanks to the Ride by Wire system and a six-speed gearbox with quickshifter.
The extremely light double omega chassis in magnesium has been designed to transform the "machine" into a living being from another universe, capable of generating sensations of art and madness in the motorcyclist by using the most modern technologies and continuing the company family feeling. In carbon fibre are the body of the machine, which contains the tanks, the seams of the saddle and the seventeen-inch wheels that house the latest generation DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP tyres.
The choice of the exclusive Rimini-based manufacturer confirms Pirelli's leadership in the racing tyre sector for road use, affirming the leadership of DIABLO products on the ultra-high performance motorcycles of the most prestigious motorcycle manufacturers.
DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP has reached its third generation; it is a highly appreciated supersports tyre because it has characteristics in terms of profiles and structure very similar to the slick product that is used by Pirelli in national and international competitions such as the FIM Superbike World Championship.
