The Ducati Panigale family is growing. The Panigale V4 2022 was the most significant stage in the evolution of the model and in its wake, here is the V4 SP2, the top-of-the-range version of the super-sporty motorbikes made by the manufacturer based in Borgo Panigale. It is engineered to be easy and fun to ride, making it ideal also for non-professionals who want to enjoy days at the track and weekend getaways alike.
Its aggressive look is enhanced by an eye-catching choice of colours. Each model is made unique by an identifying number and has a matte black livery with carbon fibre rims and bold wings in striking contrast with red accents and a brushed aluminium tank. The masterpiece is completed by a dedicated saddle and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres dedicated to super-sporty bikes as original equipment.
The pairing is no chance because the Panigale family has a lot in common with the Diablo range and, more generally, with the Pirelli tyre development process as a whole. The Panigale V4 SP2 is the result of the continuous evolution of the standard production product that draws technology and expertise from Ducati's racing activities, just like the road tyres that benefit from Pirelli's presence in over 350 motorsport competitions each year.
The Diablo Supercorsa SP, now in its third generation, is street-legal but with a performance worthy of the racing track. The new sidewall compound derives from the experience in the Superbike World Championship and the rear tyre features next-generation of compounds that guarantee stability under acceleration and at the maximum leaning angle for a good feel and accurate cornering. In addition to the double-compound combination, the grip is also secured by the new profiles designed for the best road handling. Finally, the tread pattern is designed to promote smooth wear and long-lasting performance.
And performance is what the new Panigale is all about. Compared to the previous version, the SP2 is equipped with a specific track kit that enhances the racing capabilities of the V4 and makes the link with the World Superbike even more obvious. The engine is a 1103 cm³ Desmosedici Stradale, capable of delivering 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm. Noteworthy features include lathe-cut adjustable footpegs, a lightened final drive with 520 chain, radial master cylinder with MCS system and STM-EVO SBK dry clutch that contributes to a smooth ride by reducing slippage.
