Pirelli has opened the doors of its factories to the drivers of one of the most popular racing categories of Latin America
Researches, studies, brainstorming. Preparation of compounds, confection, vulcanization and finishing. Quality analysis, distribution, resale, assembly - after all of these, the tires are ready for riding for thousands of kilometers in your vehicle.
Simple, right? Actually, the process is much more complex than you can imagine. That's why we invited the drivers from Formula Truck to visit our factory in Gravataí, State of Rio Grande do Sul, so they could know how we manufacture the FR:01, the tire used in the trucks they drive and that is sold for any truck in Brazil and in the continent.
The 15 truck drivers from one of the most popular racing categories of Latin America, the team heads and competition collaborators were received by the Latin America Industrial Pirelli CEO Murilo Fonseca and the plant director, Gilberto Rossi Gil. During the guided tour, the visitors had the opportunity to know a bit more about the manufacturer and the stages of production for the tires they use.
The event not only served for learning purposes, but also strengthened even more the bind between Pirelli and Formula Truck that was established in the beginning of the year, when the Italian company became the sole supplier for the competition.
One single manufacturing process but with many applications
FR:01 is the Pirelli tire used both on a daily basis on streets and in competitions. It has been manufactured by our factory founded in 1976. On the streets, this tire is used for middle- and long-distance transportation. For the Formula Truck lanes, the only difference for their use is that the dry weather compound ones have their tread buffed to improve the gripping, making it strictly for sports use; in wet weather, they use the tire as originally produced.
