From the headquarters in Milan to the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, via the Porsche HQ and Zuffenhausen as well as the Pirelli factory in Breuberg. These are the stages that retrace the history of the Pirelli Elect, from 2019, with the first tyres marked Elect fitted as original equipment on the Porsche Taycan, to 2024, with the début of this technology on a semi-slick tyre, the P Zero Trofeo RS, which set a record lap for the Taycan Turbo GT over Green Hell.

OVER 500 TYPE APPROVALS

Pirelli has obtained more than 500 type approvals since the launch in 2019 on Elect tyres, specifically designed for plug-in electric and hybrid cars. This milestone confirms the brand's leadership in the EV segment: 7 out of 10 car manufacturers in the Premium and Prestige segments have chosen Pirelli tyres dedicated to BEVs and PHEVs.

UP TO +50 KM RANGE

There are several advantages for motorists driving with Pirelli Elect tyres, starting with the range of the batteries. Thanks to their low rolling resistance, these tyres allow for up to 50 km extra range, which translates into savings on battery charging of up to EUR 150 each year. What's more, Pirelli Elect tyres feature enhanced grip, thanks to innovative compounds, to handle the high torque of electric motors, and reinforced structures to cope with the loads of EVs. Two elements that help reduce tyre wear by up to 20%. Elect technology also offers up to 20% improved acoustic comfort in the passenger compartment, so as to enhance the silence delivered by the lack of a combustion engine.

A MULTIFARIOUS RANGE

Pirelli Elect technology is now integrated into an increasing number of tyres from the main Pirelli product families. First of all, the P Zero range – the Premium and Prestige car manufacturers' choice for their most sporty models – combines high performance with the comfort and efficiency demands of BEVs and PHEVs and has the largest number of sizes with this technology (over 30%). This is followed by the Scorpion range, dedicated to SUVs, and the Cinturato range, intended for saloons and CUVs. Pirelli Elect is present on a growing percentage of winter tyres (22%) and all season tyres (17%), bringing benefits in terms of noise and rolling resistance even on heavily grooved tread patterns to offer greater versatility and safety at low temperatures.
