Lamborghini has broken the record for production cars on the Nürburgring circuit fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, specially developed by Pirelli engineers.
Pirelli tailored its tyres to the new Lamborghini Huracán Performante which, in a time of 6 minutes 52 seconds 01 hundredths of a second last October 6, posted a new record time at the famous 'north ring' (Nordschliefe) of the German track.
The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, measuring 245/30ZR20 at the front and 305/30ZR20 in the rear, were designed by Pirelli engineers especially for the event. Pirelli technicians were able to develop the tyres in just three months thanks to the utilisation of advanced modelling technologies and the correlation of track data with telemetry.
The cooperation of the Pirelli and Lamborghini teams enabled them to define the vehicle setup in just one development session.
Alongside the Lamborghini R&D team, representatives from Pirelli responsible for the development of the tyres designed especially for the Huracán Perfomante were also present Nürburgring.
