Anyone who grew up during the Group B rallying days – or those who have discovered it since – will understand the appeal of these epic machines, manhandled by some of the most daring and charismatic drivers in the world. Kimera calls its EVO37 “a tribute to the legendary stars of the WRC in the 1980s” and the car caused a real stir at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it drew a significant crowd as it took to the famous hill climb course in July. Its track debut, by contrast, took place at the recent P Zero Experience at the Red Bull Ring in Austria: Pirelli's ultimate track day. The Kimera EVO37 wows the crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Kimera EVO37 is a supercar with a maximum power of 505 hp that produces 550 Nm of torque from its 2-litre engine. The unit features four in-line cylinders with turbocharger volumetric compressor, designed from scratch under the guidance of Claudio Lombardi, who designed all of the engines for the legendary Martini Racing team cars.
AUTHENTIC EVOLUTION
The EVO37, which was completed with the input of suppliers and engineers who worked on Lancia's original racer, including engineers Sergio Limone and Vittorio Roberti and two-time WRC champion Miki Biasion, fully embraces the restomod philosophy with striking lines and design queues which so very clearly emulate those of the 80s rally icon. Following in the footsteps of the race car's previous partnerships, it was a natural decision for Kimera to choose to equip the 037 with Pirelli tyres. After the Lancia 037 and thanks to the experience gained in rallying, Pirelli fitted the new Kimera EVO37 with P Zero and P Zero Trofeo R tyres. The car is equipped with 18” front and 19” rear sizes, both with a lowered shoulder.
A SHOW TO REMEMBER
Following the static display with Lord March himself, the Kimera was fired up and crowds were treated to a thrilling run up the hill where the four cylinder engine sang and the iconic style turned heads. The car was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of the show with the Pirelli tyres in all their glory.
ON-TRACK THRILLS WITH P ZERO EXPERIENCE
From Goodwood' hills to the Austrian circuits: the Kimera EVO37 took to the track for the first time during Pirelli's bespoke track day experience at the Red Bull Ring. The tight and twisty Grand Prix circuit, based on the old Zeltweg track from the 1970s, gave the EVO37 a thorough workout and plenty of thrills. This is the place where Kimera EVO37 made its debut on track during the Pirelli P Zero Experience, one of the most exclusive events reserved for supercar and track driving enthusiasts.
