It is an all Italian story, one of dedication, talent and tenacity. Dallara's vision has always been similar to Pirelli's, and chance has it that both companies will be celebrating a very important milestone in 2022: 150 years for Pirelli and 50 for the brand based in Varano de' Melegari, founded by engineer Giampaolo Dallara in the garage behind his home.

It is no chance that racing is the natural outlet for incredible adventures like these, where technology is interpreted by remarkable people. Dallara's cars, supported by Pirelli, have competed in many categories (F1, F3, GP2, GP3), earning results and the esteem of their rivals. Above all, the partnership has always focused on the advancement of technology, like in April 2015, when the two manufacturers succeeded in an extremely challenging feat of joint development testing involving drivers and technicians on circuits across three different continents: Europe (Varano de' Melegari), America (Speedway, Indiana) and Asia (Sakhir, Bahrain).

A black-gold livery

That is why after half a century, Dallara is still one of the world's most highly regarded specialists in the design, development and production of racing and top performance cars. Fittingly,  a collectable version of the Dallara Stradale was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary. The Barchetta was launched in 2017 and immediately grabbed the attention on the supercar scene for its exceptional dynamic qualities. Mechanically identical to the Stradale, but painted entirely by hand, the new D50 sports an eye-catching black-gold livery, a time-honoured colour combination that takes on a special significance today.

The graphite matt black of the bodywork symbolises carbon, the go-to composite material the extraordinary properties of which Dallara knows how to exploit like few others in the world. The “champagne gold” hue chosen to accent the sides, bumper air intakes and numerous details in the cockpit is reminiscent of the great wine for toasting to this important anniversary.

Exclusive details

The D50 picks up some of the aesthetic cues that helped build the legend of the SP 1000, the first car made by Dallara Automobili da Competizione, a highly original, streamlined three-seater with a steel monocoque and driver's seat arranged in the central position. The tyres are made by Pirelli, the auto maker's sole supplier.

Like all Dallara Stradale cars ordered and produced in 2022, the D50 also features a few exclusive anniversary details, like the wheel caps with the D50 logo (the same one that appears on the digital instrumentation screen when the car is turned on), the control levers on the gold-coloured console and the plaque displaying the new company slogan “Roots and future growing together at Dallara since 1972”. The car cover is customised with the D50 logo. The past, present and future come together in a car that is already an iconic classic.
