Recently, this year's final of the popular automotive prize of the Axel Springer Verlag took place at the challenging test site in the Italian Balocco. In five classes, always four vehicle models competed against each other, which had previously prevailed at the vote of readers of AUTO BILD and BILD AM SONNTAG:
• Small car and compact car: VW Polo, Opel Ampera E, Honda Civic, Ford Fiesta.
• Mid-range car and top-of-the-range car: BMW 5er, Kia Stinger, Opel Insignia, VW Arteon.
• Compact SUV: Skoda Karoq, Toyota C-HR, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Jeep Kompass.
• Big SUV: Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, Range Rover Velar, Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
• Roadster: Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, Aston Martin DB11, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, Honda NSX.
In the independent jury, prominent TV stars, athletes, journalists, technicians, professional test drivers as well as readers of AUTO BILD and BILD AM SONNTAG tested the 20 candidates in numerous categories. With its varied curve combinations as well as the various asphalt and terrain types, the Circuit in Balocco offered the ideal test ground.
Even this year, the Italian premium tyre manufacturer Pirelli is again partner of GOLDENES LENKRAD, already for the 15th time. The reason: In this prestigious automobile award, world-leading car manufacturers are competing with their latest models at the technological top level. Numerous vehicles that participated in GOLDENES LENKRAD in 2017 and in recent years are delivered with tailor-made summer, winter and all-season tyres of Pirelli.
GOLDENES LENKRAD, which was launched by Axel Springer in 1976, is one of the most important awards in the automotive industry. For the European prize readers of the BILD Group are voting in more than 20 countries. The coveted trophies will be presented during an illustrious event on November 7th at the Axel Springer publishing house in Berlin. Until then, one will be curious about who has settled the close race!
