Pirelli has launched its new P ZERO RACE TLR RS tyre, designed for cyclists who demand maximum performance from their competition bikes. The tyre has already been used for racing by the professionals of the Lidl-Trek World Tour team and has taken pride of place on over 70 podiums, including 30 wins, from its adoption to its commercial début. The tyre is produced at the Milano-Bollate plant and uses the SmartEVO2 compound, which provides high all-weather grip, low rolling resistance and lower weight when compared to the P ZERO RACE TLR.
The P ZERO RACE TLR RS is equipped with a patented SpeedCORE™ carcass, which reduces the weight of the tyre by 8% compared to the P ZERO RACE TLR and contributes to a significant drop in rolling resistance (-16%). The tyre is also tubeless-ready and features a new heel, which makes it easy to pair with the latest-generation wheel rims, both with bead hooks and hookless.
The tyre was developed in less than six months owing to the proximity between Pirelli's R&D department and the Bollate factory. The prototypes were tested and validated both in the laboratory and using the virtual development and design models (available to Pirelli and commonly used in the automotive industry), at the Pirelli Indoor Testing Centre, and on the road, thanks to joint tests between the Pirelli test team and the Lidl-Trek athletes, amid the Etna descents in Sicily and in the Arenberg forest in France.
The P ZERO RACE TLR RS is positioned at the top of Pirelli's hi-performance road range and is available in four different sizes. Its headline, "Racing Performance", defines its use, distinguishing it from the P ZERO RACE (All-Round Performance) and the 4S (all-Weather Performance) versions. The other models in the range (P ZERO RACE TLR SL, P ZERO RACE Tub SL and P ZERO RACE TT) are dedicated to specific cycling activities. The new tyre is available in the best cycling shops as well as on-line.
