An engine, two wheels and the number 46: we can only be talking about the legend that is Valentino Rossi. But this time, the multiple champion has put his name to a slightly different type of bike. The VR46 E-MTB is a new off-road e-bike that carries the unmistakeable VR46 logo, unveiled to the public at the 2021 EICMA bike show in Milan. Although Rossi's future is now centred on four wheels, he's still active in the world of bikes – and his latest creation is this spectacular model in collaboration with MT Distribution.

The VR46 E-MTB is a pedal-assisted bicycle with a modern design and cutting-edge technology, designed in Italy for all sorts of uses ranging from mountain biking to enduro.

The VR46 E-MTB is available in two versions: the Limited Edition (on display at EICMA) that will be produced in just 46 units – obviously – equipped with carbon components and wireless transmission. Then there's a Pro version, which will be available from early 2022. The twin-suspension frame in 6061-T6 hydroformed aluminium is designed to guarantee smooth pedalling and optimal control, thanks to a modern set-up and cutting-edge components from leaders in their field.

The tyres are Pirelli: specifically, Scorpion S in 27.5-inch size at the rear and 29-inch at the front. These are the Italian company's most aggressive tyres in the entire MTB range, designed for demanding tracks where performance and grip are equally important. The tread pattern is made up of pronounced blocks that are specifically spaced out, allowing the rubber to cling to any type of terrain and deliver reliable performance while cornering and braking. Hyperwall technology ensures driveability and strength at the rear. This is a special construction patented by Pirelli specifically for E-MTBs, which improves safety even in the most extreme situations. There's also a natural element to the tyres with the addition of lignin to the SmartGRIP compound, which has been developed using all of Pirelli's know-how from more than a century of motorsport.

With VR46, an engine and two wheels, excitement is guaranteed. Except this time, with pedals and Pirelli tyres.
