Perfect fit meets reliability

To the long collection of partnerships and collaborations that make Pirelli the leading tyre supplier and point of reference for teams also in the GT4 segment, there has recently been added one of particular prestige, due to the brand's notoriety and the importance of the car manufacturer from which it comes. It is the update of the GR Supra GT4 EVO2, just launched on the market by Toyota Gazoo Racing.

SPORT AS GUIDE

The choice of Pirelli as a partner of the TGR team is in some ways inevitable considering the tyre company's strong involvement in the GT4 project since its inception and the nature of the car itself. The GR Supra GT4 EVO2, in fact, brings together and emphasises performance, reliability and handling by combining the best of the Japanese motorsport team's track experience. Ensuring the success of the collaboration was Pirelli's way of understanding research and development, whose philosophy is based on two inalienable and interconnected principles that are profoundly consistent with the Supra GT4 project: ‘perfect fit', meaning that every car has its own tyre, and ‘from race to road', meaning that what is born for the track is the model on which technologies are developed to be delivered to all drivers.

Pirelli's and Toyota's approach to technology and passion for motorsport has been refined and deepened in recent years, thanks to their collaboration and interaction in the world of motorsports, starting with the WRC.

THE NEW GR SUPRA GT4 EVO

Features of the GR Supra GT4 EVO upgrade for the 2023 season had already included the improvement of braking, greater handling with an increase in engine performance, which made the car fun and affordable even for less experienced motorists. But, as is usually the case with those who love what they do, at Toyota were not satisfied and continued to improve the car by collecting the opinions, experiences and results of the teams and drivers directly on the race tracks.

The result of so much effort is the 2024 upgrade, which will compete from next season. The new version of the GR Supra GT4 EVO incorporates several new features, including meticulously refined ABS maps based on suggestions from drivers who drove it in Japan and Europe, optimised braking and improved deceleration control. Of course, there is no shortage of tyres: Pirelli P Zero developed for GT cars, which in turn are continuously upgraded on the basis of the experiences and data collected on the track by Pirelli engineers on the dozens of race circuits in which they are engaged all over the world, from the GT World Challenge that takes place on the various continents, to the Intercontinental GT Challenge, via the German DTM and the main national and regional championships. In particular, the experience gained in GT4 championships, including Europe, America, Japan and Australia, proved to be valuable.

Given their reliability and versatility, which makes them the benchmark for the teams in every circuit and race condition, the P Zero were immediately the go-to choice of Toyota technicians for the new GR Supra GT4 EVO to which they deliver even more manoeuvrability and improved performance.

Which is what enthusiasts expect.
