Inter Milan and Pirelli: present the new colors of a sodality that spans nearly a quarter of a century
Black, yellow and red. For years, generations of fans of the most diverse sports, from Formula One to Superbike and from skiing to hockey, associated the colors of the Pirelli logo with the victories of their heroes.
And, starting this year, Inter fans will recognize these colors on the shirts of their idols too.
The jersey, presented by the football club and Nike, will be indeed black with yellow edges and will, for the first time, include the Pirelli logo in its original colors.
The jersey is a tribute to the Inter Milan and Pirelli partnership which dates back to 1995 and represents one of the longest and most successful partnerships in the history of world sports clubs. This will be the third jersey that Inter players will wear this season in European competitions.
The inspiration for the new uniform was the jerseys worn by the football club in their glorious 1997-98 and 2009-10 seasons. The influence of the 1997-98 uniform is very strong as can be seen in the return of the dark background, elegantly characterized by bright yellow finishes and details.
Inter fans will remember that this was the uniform worn by the legendary Brazilian champion Ronaldo. The "Phenomenon" was the protagonist of one of the most famous advertising campaigns of the long P: the one that portrayed him posing as the Christ the Redeemer looking at the bay of Rio de Janeiro from the top of Mount Corcovado.
The collar of the new shirt will have a crew neck based on the 2009-10 season, during which the club won an unprecedented triple in Italy.
The 90s inspiration is further underlined by the Nike “Futura” logo and by a matte/bright black jacquard pattern on the whole shirt, with the club crest and the word “Inter” that emerge discreetly from the fabric. The yellow finish of the collar and sleeves frame the shirt perfectly, while the colors used for the Pirelli logo align with our presence in the motorsport world. Not surprisingly, the new uniform was presented the day after the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix. In the coming weeks Inter and Nike will also present a line of motor racing-themed clothing made in collaboration with Pirelli, the official supplier of Formula 1 tires since 2011.
Shorts and socks, also black, complete the new uniform, both characterized by yellow inserts, including the Nike vintage logo.
Inter and Pirelli are ready to take the field with new colors but with the same spirit and the same values that have united them for almost a quarter of a century.
