DTM Heroes - Porsche

In the DTM, Porsche does not brag about the path that has made its history in other important championships, but the German car manufacturer has also seen its name inscribed in the Hall of Fame in this series.  In 2023, Porsche's works driver, Thomas Preining drove the 911 GT3 R to victory for one of the most prestigious teams in European motorsport, Manthey EMA, which also won its first team title in the Deutsche Toringwagen Masters in the same year and which is partly owned by the Stuttgart car brand, as a 51-percent shareholder.

In 2024, the team founded in the 90s by driver Olaf Manthey is competing not only with reigning champion Preining, number 91, but also with Ayhancan Güven who drives the car displaying the number 90 and is making his début with the team based in Meuspath, Rhineland.

Manthey Ema

For more than 25 years, Manthey Racing GmbH has been known as the benchmark for the preparation of high-performance road vehicles and Porsche racing cars. Manthey, which now employs around 250 people, is best known for its activities in the Nürburgring VLN Endurance Championship and the WEC World Championship. In addition, since 2013 the company, led by brothers Nicolas and Martin Raeder, has been managing GT racing for Porsche Motorsport.Manthey's other activities include organising Manthey-Racing's NLS-class Cayman GT4 Trophy.

The team has achieved numerous successes since its début in 1996, including those achieved in the VLN on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. The more than 50 titles that followed have taken Meuspath's team to the top of the overall winners' list. In 2011, Manthey also won the 24 Hours at the legendary German circuit with a 911 GT3 RSR-MR, at the time, a Porsche test car dating back to 2008 that had already clocked up more than 48,000 kilometres. Since then, the team has won seven German 24 Hours, including numerous victories in the 24 Hours at Le Mans in the GT category, the first of which débuted in 1999 with a Porsche 996 generation 911 GT3-R.

The 911 GT3-R

The Manthey team is taking part in the DTM with the latest-generation Porsche 911 GT3-R, which boasts a maximum power of 416 kW (565 horsepower) with rear-wheel drive and a displacement of 4,194 cubic cm. The gearbox transmission is a six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox. The engine is a rear-positioned water-cooled six-cylinder boxer weighing about 1,250 kg (depending on the BoP).
