P ZERO, the second generation of Pirelli bicycle tyres
Four years after the launch of the P ZERO Velo, the first bicycle tyre which marked Pirelli's return to the world of cycling, Pirelli is proud to present P ZERO, the new range available in two variants: P ZERO Race, which is the version designed for ultimate performance levels, and P ZERO Road, which is dedicated to cyclists in search of an all-round tyre.
The new P ZERO line was devised to replace the P ZERO Velo, the best-seller launched in June 2017 which quickly became one of the main benchmarks on the market, and testifies to the evolution of Pirelli's role in cycling. Compared with the previous model, the new P ZERO Race and Road offer more grip, a smoother ride and greater comfort, adapting to the new standards of wide rims, which are now the benchmark in the sector.
P ZERO RACE: PURE PERFORMANCE
The new P ZERO Race clincher is a bicycle tyre dedicated to pure performance on the road and it joins the market after the P ZERO Race TLR and P ZERO Race TLR SL models. Compared to the Tubeless Ready version, the P ZERO Race presents the same tread design and the same compound used, SmartEVO Compound, which has already been tested by the top World Tour teams that Pirelli has partnered with: AG2R Citroën, TREK-Segafredo and Team BikeExchange.
SmartEVO Compound stands out for the ternary blend of “smart” behaving polymers, which provide specific performance levels and thereby guarantee the perfect balance between parts. The result is better grip in all conditions of use, extremely low rolling resistance and enhanced responsiveness and riding comfort of the bike.
Another new feature of the P ZERO Race is the 120 TPI Nylon carcass designed for use with an air chamber and now also suited to the new wide rim ETRTO standards (19c). The P ZERO Race is available in black or with para rubber side walls (in the Classic version), and a version with labels coloured in yellow, red or white will soon also be available. The sizes available are 24, 26, 28 and 30 mm, each one featuring a wider tread than the P ZERO Velo: the track on the ground is wider, with greater protection against punctures, better control on bends and a smoother ride. The P ZERO Race also has a wider protection belt, the TechBelt Road: this consists of an additional layer of Aramid fabric, placed underneath the compound to increase the protection against punctures in various conditions of use.
THE P ZERO ROAD, THE VERSATILE ALL-ROUND TYRE
The P ZERO Road clincher is the second model in the P ZERO range: an all-round tyre built in compliance with the latest rims and with performance levels focused more on durability and all-round performance than the Race, without compromising on smoothness and comfort. Low rolling resistance, superior riding comfort and grip in all conditions complete the technical characteristics of this tyre. The tread design of the P ZERO Road features closer and longer grooves than the P ZERO Race, while the compound used is the EVO Compound, which is more versatile and suitable for all uses. The sizes for the launch of the P ZERO Race are 24, 26 and 28 mm, in a single black variant.
