GP: German GP
Date: 28 July 2019
Winner: Max Verstappen - Red Bull Honda

A wet, tricky and spectacular race.

Verstappen won, chased by Vettel who clawed his way to second from 20th on the grid. Robert Kubica finished tenth for Williams.

One point, the only one scored by the team that year. It came 8 years, 8 months and 14 days on from the last time Robert scored championship points, in 2010 in Abu Dhabi.

A couple of months after that, on 6 February 2011, he suffered a very serious accident in the Andorra Rally: broken right leg, severe injuries to his right shoulder, arm and hand. It was enough to interrupt what until then had been a brilliant career, right from his debut in karts.

Kubica made his F1 debut in 2006 with Sauber BMW and won the 2008 Canadian GP a year on from surviving a huge crash in Montreal in 2007 and he was close to signing for Ferrari.

His impairments didn't prevent him from racing, although the left arm now did most of the work. He won the WRC-2 world rally championship in 2013 and then made a sensational return to Formula 1 in 2019.

Born in Krakow, Poland on 7 December 1984, Robert was gifted with incredible determination, also winning the European Le Mans Series in 2021. In 2024 he joined the AF Corse team, enjoying success in the World Endurance Championship with Ferrari.

Indomitable Robert.
