It's a special year for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, as 2025 celebrate its 75th anniversary. To mark the occasion, last night all the teams and drivers took part in an exceptional event at London's O2 Arena, featuring stars from the world of music, with over 15,000 spectators in attendance. The two-hour show, celebrating an amazing history, was broadcast around the world as well as being streamed on the F1 social platforms.
2025 will also be special for Pirelli, because it will hit the 500 Grands Prix mark during the coming season. The Italian company has so far taken part in 485 rounds of the championship and will reach the 500 at the Dutch Grand Prix on 31 August at Zandvoort. Pirelli will then celebrate this milestone one week later at its home event in Monza with several special events. The first step was taken yesterday at the London show, where the company revealed a version of the Pirelli logo that will be used for all its Formula 1 communication throughout the 2025 season.
The first initiative will be a feature on pirelli.com, looking back at the fifty most significant Grands Prix from Pirelli's time on the F1 World Championship trail. Naturally enough, it starts with the very first round of motor racing's blue riband category, the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone on 13 May 1950. 21 cars lined up on the grid that day, with eight of them running on Pirelli tyres. They included the top three finishers, all Alfa Romeos, with the Italians Nino Farina and Giuseppe Fagioli taking the flag ahead of the English driver, Reg Parnell. It was the first chapter of Pirelli's long and ongoing history in Formula 1, which this year will see the Italian company become the tyre supplier with the longest record in the sport.
