Decarbonisation strategy, emission reduction programmes, challenging targets with Net Zero objective. And furthermore, the completeness and transparency of the information provided and the adoption of best practices in terms of environmental impact. These are the main elements taken into account by the international non-profit organisation CDP to include Pirelli, for the seventh consecutive year, in the 2024 Climate 'A' List for the fight against climate change.
Pirelli was awarded an 'A' rating in the Climate section, the highest possible score, out of more than 24,800 companies analysed, confirming the company's ongoing commitment to the fight against climate change. In fact, in September 2024, Pirelli had already obtained the "long term" validation from the Science Based Targets initiative to reach Net Zero by 2040, the most challenging target among tyre manufacturers at global level, thus committing to reduce absolute emissions of Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gases by at least 90% compared to the reference year 2018.
The CDP, whose goal is to help companies and governments reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, protect water resources and forests, collects data related to environmental impacts, risks and opportunities, for an independent assessment with regard to the methodology with which the score is calculated. At the request of more than 700 investors, with assets totaling over 140 trillion dollars, these data, in 2024, were communicated through the CDP platform by the companies involved.
