What is your ideal journey?

At the cost of sounding monotonous, my ideal journey is the trip I take almost every weekend. From Milan to the French Riviera, all the way to Cap Ferrat. I love this stretch of road with its bends, tunnels and glimpses of views that open out over the sea. Another route that I particularly love is the Maloja Pass. It is one of those roads that are fun to drive.

So, you enjoy driving, it seems.

I appreciate cars for more than just their design and their concentration of technology. Driving them is really the greatest pleasure.

Does the journey matter more than the destination for you?

They are equally important; they are two sides of the same coin. Being on the move, driving in this case, is an experience to be savoured from all angles, but the destination is just as fundamental. Luckily, I can almost always combine charming destinations for both my pleasure and for my job.

When was the last time you felt this?

It was when I left Milan heading to Provence. My destination was Arles. I drove for five hours through beautiful scenery and breath-taking landscapes. Provence is well worth exploring by car at least once every two or three years.

But do you prefer to travel alone or with friends?

When I want to savour the pleasure of driving, I prefer to be alone. I am not much of a chatterbox. My travel mate is music, usually house music, and tunes from the '80s and '90s.

What about luggage? Small or big?

The bare essential because I often drive a car with a small boot. I pack a soft Larusmiani crocodile bag. It is very handy and perfect for weekends.

What is your next destination?

Last summer I was in Costa Smeralda. My next trip will be to China for business. I will have some fun when I get back to Europe!
