Specifically, the Izmit facility met the criteria indicated in the Zero Waste Regulation set out by the Turkish Ministry of the Environment and Urbanization. In simple terms, it means that Pirelli Izmit now sends 100% of the waste it produces to recovery. This is both an illustration of the plant's efficiency and a valuable contribution to the protection of the environment.
Pirelli is engaged in important sustainability efforts in all the factories across the world, including the Izmit plant, which is among Pirelli's major global manufacturing sites. In addition to working on minimizing the environmental impact of tyre production and usage, Pirelli also acts responsibly in accordance with global sustainability goals in environmental impact, energy and water consumption and waste management at its manufacturing sites.
As a result, of these efforts, Pirelli has been confirmed as the world sustainability leader in the Automobiles & Components sector on the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indices. Pirelli also aims to reduce its direct and indirect carbon emissions by 25% and CO2 emissions arising from raw material sourcing by 9% until 2025.
