From the beginning of the coronavirus health emergency, Pirelli's priority has been to protect the health of its employees and that of the wider community. In that spirit, Pirelli is contributing to RM Sotheby's #RaceAgainstCovid charity auction, held on behalf of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which is helping to raise money for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as it tackles the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Participants in the online auction will have the opportunity to bid for a ‘money-can't-buy' experience at Pirelli's Milan headquarters. This will include a tour of its R&D Centre with the new Testing Simulator and a visit to the Pirelli Foundation's historical archive hosted by the Director, as well as exclusive guided visit to the Pirelli HangarBicocca Contemporary Art Centre. The winning bidder will also receive a personalized Pirelli "Pole Position Wind Tunnel Tyre", exactly as delivered to the fastest driver at the end of each F1 qualifying session, presented by Mario Isola, Pirelli's Head of F1 and Car Racing.
In addition, Pirelli is contributing three photographic prints, chosen from the archives of the Pirelli Calendar, by the renowned photographers Steve McCurry, Tim Walker and Albert Watson.
Alongside Pirelli's contributions, the charity auction has attracted a long list of unique donations from the motorsport community. These include motorsports memorabilia and heritage items, as well as experiences in Formula 1, World Rallying, World Endurance, Moto GP, and Formula E. The sale will offer more than 75 lots.
The Online Only: #RaceAgainstCovid Auction will run for one week from Monday, 15 June. Bidder registration is now open and potential participants should contact RM Sotheby's European office.
