Pirelli signed the “Rolling Together for Children” program, a charitable initiative that intends to mentor girls and boys who live around the Pirelli factory in Silao. With this program Pirelli reiterates its commitment to support the local communities where its plants are located.
Together with Pirelli in this important initiative there are also the Center for Social Responsibility of Puerto Interior and United Fund, an organization that has been operating for many years throughout the Mexican territory to promote the development and education of people who live in situations of risk.
The three organizations have given life to the "Club Pirelli" program that seeks to strengthen the socio-emotional and educational skills of 100 boys and girls from the communities of Nápoles, Providencia, San Francisco, Emiliano Zapata, Coecillo and Saltrillo in Silao, Guanajuato.
The program aims to promote the prevention of social problems, as well as improve feeding habits, promote care for the environment and reduce educational backwardness.
To achieve these objectives, five workshops with eight modules each will be taught over the course of a year, with a focus on: socio-emotional skills, educational reinforcement, health (good nutrition, exercise, addiction prevention), environment and care of the environment, in addition to vocational guidance. There will also be corporate volunteer activities that reinforce the academic module and outdoor activities.
Jorge Martin, Safety, Health and Environment Manager for the North America region of Pirelli, commented: “With this program, which is part of Pirelli's Sustainability activities, we want to make our contribution to the development of the communities that live around our factory. We actively want to set an example and support future generations because we believe that betting on children is betting on our future”.
