A great success, Pirelli's Romanian footprint has grown over the decade and will continue to thanks to new investment of 200 million euro which Mr. Tronchetti announced at the anniversary event. Those funds will be spent through 2021 and will increase Slatina's production capacity to 15 million units per year, up from around 10 million now, and create 500 new jobs. As well as boosting capacity, the investment will ensure that Slatina's production technology remains at the cutting edge for the production of car tyres for the Premium segment, primarily destined to the markets of Eastern Europe. The enhancement plan also involves the production area in Slatina dedicated to motorsport, which includes a F1® production unit which serves as a back-up for the main Pirelli F1® plant in Turkey.
