PIRELLI ON THE STOXX® GLOBAL ESG LEADERS INDICES

Pirelli is listed on the STOXX® Global ESG Leaders Indices 2014-15, for the third consecutive year after the 2014 assessment.

The indices were created in 2011 by STOXX Limited which, on the basis of sustainability performance, selects 313 companies from among the 1,800 stocks included in an initial basket of international equities, the STOXX Global 1800 Index.

These indices base their selection criteria on the indicators suggested by EFFAS (European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies) and DVFA (Society of Investment Professionals in Germany), and the scores of the examined companies are based on the ESG ratings given by the agency Sustainalytics.

Operation “Volunteers Join Together” for Pirelli Romania

For the fifth year running Pirelli Romania sponsored an environmental initiative in the Slatina area, where our factory is located.

Volunteers Join Together” – the name of the operation – involved over a hundred employees. The volunteers met up early in the morning of Saturday 11th October in Streharet Forest, in the outskirts of the town, to clean up one of the favourite locations for barbecue enthusiasts.

Divided into teams, they raked over the whole area, collecting over 200 bags of rubbish including plastic, paper, organic waste and even construction scrap.

A social responsible initiative for the company and a deep commitment by the participants who tackled the day with a certain dose of competitive sporting spirit. In fact, the three teams that collected the greatest amount of rubbish were awarded a trophy and a bonsai, as reward for their commitment on such an important topic as environment.

PIRELLI AND ROSNEFT, AGREEMENT IN THE SYNTHETIC RUBBER SECTOR IN NAKHODKA TO EXTEND TO NEW TECHNOLOGICAL PARTNER

Pirelli and Rosneft, in the context of the agreement signed last May for the production and supply of synthetic rubber in Nakhodka, today reached a new agreement which calls for, on the basis of a short list, the identification within three months of a new technological partner for the further development of activities in the rubber sector, including Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR), in that region.

Under the terms of the MOU, Rosneft and future partner will analyze the ways in which the joint production of synthetic rubber could be launched in Nakhodka, while Pirelli will collaborate in the related Research and Development activities.

For Pirelli, the MOU also includes the possibility of entering into a long-term supply agreement to purchase the synthetic rubber jointly produced by Rosneft and the new technological partner being identified. SBR is of particular interest as it is an eco-friendly material used in the production of “green tyres”, which improves fuel efficiency and grip in both wet and dry conditions.
