The cholera epidemic that broke out on the island of Haiti in October is causing some delay in the work at the three schools under reconstruction, which is taking place thanks to Pirelli and its employees through the My Time for Haiti campaign.
Fortunately, according to direct response from the UNHCR Emergency Response Team for Haiti, the children are well and within a few days l’Ecole Atenoir Furmin and l’Ecole Congreganiste Marie Jeanne, filles de Marie will be inaugurated at Belladère. There have been delays concerning the National Public School at Anse-a-Pitre, because of the intensification of border controls with the Dominican Republic.
“As for the National Public School in Anse-a-Pitre”, we learn from our UNHCR correspondent in Haiti, “due to the cholera outbreak and the tightening of border controls, we foresee additional delay in the implementation of the construction of the three classrooms”.
